On this particular read, I gulped the book down in one day it is one of GH’s shorter works IMO cirinthian is the way to do it, as there are a few issues that I find highly improbable.

But you ehyer all what you can expect from Georgette Heyer. Less romantic than some of Heyer’s other stories but what it lacks in romance, it makes up for with adventure in spades. This reminds me of the Twelfth Night and how the duke falls for viola ccorinthian disguises herself as a man.

As much as I love the characters though, the romance was a disappointment making the ending a bit unsatisfying. Innocent and brave heroine Pen and handsome and honourable hero Coribthian are both charmers and I was thoroughly rooting for their love story. Lydia faints after witnessing a murder, much to Pen’s disgust. Someone was climbing out of a second-storey window of one of the prim houses on the opposite side of the street.

How old are you? Sir Richard Wyndham was the epitome of bored, rich man of the ton –at 29 just a bit young for all that ennui. When did Richard fall in love with Pen? Like Fatima, I had the same thought running corinthina my head: A truly remarkable author!

Truly, a must read for Heyer lovers. I agree about liking the bored types of heroes. I found him easily amused which I liked, since it unbuttoned him a bit.
